This 67 page softcover book The book of Handwoven Coverlets by Eliza Hall was published by Dover Publications, New York, The author explores important aspects of handwoven coverlets including historical background, professional weavers, mountain weavers, coverlet names, designs and colors, coverlet's stories, as rare artifacts, and as heirlooms. That is why, when a coverlet has an inscription, it is almost always woven in backwards and forwards, to enable the observer to read it on both sides of the textile. Because most looms were narrow, coverlets were often made of two woven panels joined with a center seam.
